Information for Educators

Eyes by Design can assist educators in the following ways:

  • Examine children who are not achieving to potential and treat any functional vision problems found.
  • Education about the role of vision in learning through our website, handouts and presentations for teachers.
  • We provide free vision screening service to schools which are aimed at detecting functional vision problems and not just issues with sight.

What difference can treatment make?

Treating vision problems allows the child to have an opportunity to develop the skills required to pay attention and to use fundamental vision skills more efficiently while they learn, thereby reducing frustration and increasing opportunity.

Treatment involves improving eye movement control and/or visual information processing skills.  Once a child is able to sustain attention at their near working distance then this allows more time to process information they are viewing which in turn should lead to improved comprehension.

The confidence gained from success often breeds more success.  Improved confidence can lead to improvements not only in academic achievement but also socially and/or athletically as well.

School Screenings and Teacher/Parent Presentations
