Kids Eye Examinations Central Coast
Great vision is part of achieving success at work, home, sport and life!

Why Children’s Eye Care Matters
Clear, comfortable vision plays a vital role in a child’s growth, learning, and confidence. Because up to 80% of classroom learning is visual, even small vision problems can have a significant impact on reading, concentration, and school performance.
Unlike adults, children often don’t know what their vision should look like, so many issues go unnoticed without a proper eye examination. Early detection through regular eye tests is a proactive step that parents can take to ensure their child’s vision health.
When Should My Child Have an Eye Test?
In the absence of apparent symptoms, we recommend:
- First eye examination at age 3 – to rule out any major eye conditions
- Second eye exam before starting school at age 4-5 – this ensures that the child is working to their visual potential when they start school
- Annual check-ups during school years, or more often if issues are detected. This ongoing monitoring ensures any changes in your child’s vision are promptly addressed, supporting their learning and development.
- Earlier testing if there is a family history of eye problems, or if parents/teachers notice concerns
Signs Your Child May Need an Eye Test
Some signs are obvious, but many are subtle. Look out for:
